Can we change our lives?

I believe we can change our lives.

Six months ago I was not happy. I was struggling at my job and saw no future in it. I was basically working to retire out of the job. Then came something new,

I was playing around with making a game of learning Hawaiian. The challenge is that few people actually speak the language and it is not related to any other languages. In my pursuit I met a couple and I mentioned what I was doing and the wife said she knew the top man in gamification and his name is Yu-Kai Chou.

I checked him on the internet and bought the kindle version of his book. It was a slow start but once I started I saw the possibilities. Not just in teaching Hawaiian but improving my life in general.

It is not about playing all day, instead it is about looking at the world in way to make it fun. I found a greater purpose and this was so awesome that I no longer dreaded work. Though nothing changed at work, I just now have a purpose greater than what work offered. Now, I am crafting my life on my terms and someday I will do things I love and enjoy life, while still working a 9 to 5 job.

What it comes down to is finding who or what you want to be. Don’t worry you can always change your ideas as you are in control. Tweaking the skills you have or learn new skills. The main thing is everyday do something that matter for your epic life. Crafting is putting in a little work each and everyday.

There was a lot I am learning and everyday brings me closer to what I want to be. This is an adventure and this is exciting.

Epic Artist

Grand masterpieces hang in beautiful museums for all to see. Why can’t my life be a work of art for all to see?

To do that I need to become an Epic Artist.

Life is a like a canvas we draw on it everyday. What I do is what people see and by working on my life everyday, I add to the masterpiece that will be my life.

It was interesting that when I was in Art Class in College my art look horrible. The head was too big, the hand were out of proportion and the whole picture looked unbalanced. The teacher explained that if we focus on one part of the picture things will become out of balanced. Instead, we need to work on the whole picture. A little here a little there. Stand back and look at the picture at a distance. Make adjustments as you draw and the picture when done will look balanced .

That is what I am discovering today.

I focused on the intellectual side of my life and neglected the social and physical side of my life and I am out of balance. I am working on my social life and taking walks and staying on top of my health. I feel better and my life feels better.

I need to take time a few times a week to look at my whole life and make adjustments that will make my life balanced and epic.

I will continue to craft my Epic Life a day at a time.
